Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Biblical Counseling

The Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Biblical Counseling (BARBC) is designed with a balanced emphasis between biblical and theological subjects, ministry topics, and general education requirements (academic courses which are considered core to a college or university education). Your entire college education will be useful and practical. 

The BARBC is a traditional 120 semester hour undergraduate degree program consisting of 36 semester hours in general education*, 39 semester hours in Bible/theology, 18 semester hours in Biblical Counseling,  and 27 semester hours in electives. 

You can complete the degree 100% online, by campus-based studies in Metro Atlanta, or in any combination.

Purpose

The purpose of the BARBC is to introduce you to the essentials of biblical counseling. 

Students who complete this degree will be equipped to serve as biblical counselors in local churches or in biblical counseling centers, among other related occupations.  This degree is not intended nor is it adequate to prepare individuals for professional state licensure.

Program Objectives

  1. Demonstrate effectiveness in oral and written communication.
  2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Bible, Christian theology, and Church History.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of modern society and culture.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts in algebra and physical science.
  5. Apply knowledge of the Bible and Christian heritage to a lifelong pattern of spiritual growth and personal development.
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of counseling principles and techniques required to meet individual needs.
  7. Master the essentials necessary for the pursuit of a graduate degree in biblical counseling.
  8. Utilize a biblical counseling process model in the practice of interpersonal ministry.
  9. Practice biblical counseling that is ethically and legally informed.
  10. Empathically and skillfully assess spiritually needy people for pastoral care, biblical counseling, or referral.


*
Students who reside in Florida are required to complete 45 hours of General Education. In order to meet this state requirement, Florida students will take 15 hours of General Education electives and only 18 hours of regular electives.
